A Rare Opportunity and Exploring Regional Latin Wines...

A winemaking genius and a trip though 4 Latin wine producing countries that will delight the senses are at the heart of two incredible Wildfire wine events that are not to be missed in May!

On Monday, May 16, Wildfire Schaumburg will be hosting an extraordinary wine dinner with Bevan Cellars and Jemrose Winery. The highly regarded winemaker, Russell Bevan, will be on hand to discuss his own wines from Bevan Cellars along with his new winemaking venture, Jemrose! Russell is part of a very elite list of winemakers that would dare to step into the head winemaking shoes of Michael Browne, the former head winemaker for Jemrose. During Russell Bevan’s illustrious career, he has consistently received wine scores  from 93 to 98 points from such publications as the Wine Advocate and the Wine Spectator- extremely impressive! A few of the wine and food pairings that I know I’m looking forward to are the Pan-Seared Jumbo Day Boat Sea Scallops with an orange-basil butter, asparagus & lemon zest risotto paired with the Egret Pond Viognier ‘09. Also, the Grilled Szechuan-Pepper Crusted Prime Filet Mignon with a Foggy Knoll Grenache & blood orange reduction and oven roasted truffle potatoes matched with the Jemrose Winery “Foggy Knoll” Grenache ’08 sounds like a match made in heaven- gluttonous for sure! The cost of the dinner is $100.00 per person (plus tax & gratuity) and even though this event is priced a little higher than most of our wine dinners, it is most definitely worth every penny considering the fact that the wines are so highly sought after and with Russell Bevan’s appearance as the evening’s guest speaker, not to mention the pairings...it's too good to pass up!

If you are a fan of wines from Chile, Argentina, Spain or Portugal, I urge you to check out our Old World vs New World Latin wine dinner on Tuesday, May 24 in Wildfire Chicago. The term “old world ” is in reference to wines that are grown and produced from European countries-  Spain & Portugal. “New world” refers to countries outside of Europe- Argentina & Chile. Our spin for this unique and innovative wine dinner is that we are focusing on Latin wines, countries and cuisine from both “worlds” and guests can decide for themselves whether they prefer the “old” or the “new” world wines or whether they enjoy both equally! You wont' be able to resist the Pan-Seared Garlic & Herb Prawns with black beans & rice, microgreens salad served with the Santa Rita Medalla Real Chardonnay, Chile ’09, or the Grilled Flat Iron Steak with a chimichurri sauce and oven roasted steak fries matched with the Salentein Reserve Malbec, Argentina ’08 - it would take an astronomically high level of will power- which I sadly lack!

If you want to hear more or would like to make a reservation for either or these events please contact me at 773-398-6960.  You can view the menus for each by clicking on the links above. Hope to see you at one or both of these amazing wine dinners! Cheers to you, Brad Wermager
